Level 2 Certificate in British Sign Language
This qualification is designed to develop your BSL knowledge and give you the tools to communicate better in real life situations, whilst improving your BSL grammar and understanding.
The course is delivered over 30 weeks and aims to build on your foundation in BSL so you can better understand and use the grammar of BSL and have more in-depth conversations.

Course Units
We follow the specifications set out by Signature - our awarding body.

BSL 201 - Receptive skills
Describing people and things, expressing attitudes and opinions, past and future events, regional variations.
BSL 202 - Productive skill
Combining simple sentences, presenting information, using language in everyday situations.
BSL 203 - Conversational skills
Recognising questions and responses about everyday topics, using appropriate vocabulary, maintaining a conversation.
Course Requirements
Students are required to have successfully completed the Level 1 Award in British Sign Language.

You may wish to undertake the assessments and gain the Signature Level 2 Certificate. An additional payment of £169 will be required. This is paid to Signature and the cost is set by them each academic year. OxfordBSL do not take any percentage of assessment fees.

Payment can be spread over 3 installments without penalty. Your booking confirmation email will give you the choice between 1 payment and 3 payments - simply choose whichever suits you!
Course Assessments
There are three assessments against the Level 2 certificate, one for each unit, externally assessed by Signature.

Unit 201 is a BSL story with 12 multiple choice questions

Unit 202 is a short presentation on an everyday topic

Unit 203 is a conversation with the teacher
Your teacher will give you plenty of time to practice these elements over the course!
